OPPO Reno 2, Reno2 Z, Reno2 F Quick Review: HOT or NOT under Rs 40000?

OPPO Reno 2 was launched on 27th August and is all set for sales from 20th September. Reno from OPPO is known for new technologies and Reno 2 is no exception, it comes with 20X zoom capacity. And the next Reno in line will have 90Hz refresh rate like OnePlus 7 Pro. The Reno 2 Series is priced at premium mid-range and is powered by the Snapdragon 730G SoC.

Specifications of the Oppo Reno 2 variants

OPPO Reno 2 comes with a 6.55-inch dynamic AMOLED display which is a tad bigger than most of the Reno and other phones as well. It also has 1080×2400 pixels screen resolution with 8GB RAM. Powered by 4000mAh Li-ion battery, it runs on Android 9.0 Pie and supports VOOC fast-charging. Also, it comes with a stunning boundary-less display and doesn’t have any bezels or notch. The front is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass v6 that keeps scratches, marks, and bruises away.

Features of Oppo Reno 2 Cameras

The back panel houses four cameras that are the core feature of OPPO Reno 2. The primary camera is 48 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture. The other cameras are 13 MP, 8 MP and 2 MP. The entire setup has phase detection autofocus and the selfie camera is 16 MP with a soft screen flash. The Reno 2 has shark-fin pivot structure camera while the others have vertical pop-up cameras placed centrally.

Since the front panel doesn’t have a notch or bezels, the selfie camera comes with motorized mechanism. Along with its 20X zoom, the OPPO Reno 2 camera is truly impressive. Reno 2 also has a 5X hybrid zoom with 48MP Sony IMX 586 primary sensor, 13MP telephoto camera, 8MP wide-angle and a Monochrome lens with  2MP sensor.

Processor and Software

OPPO Reno 2 houses Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor which is dedicated for gaming combining two 2.2GHz Kryo 470 cores and six 1.8GHz Kryo 470 cores inside an 8nm chipset along with Adreno 618 GPU that makes the graphical performance of the phone exceptional. OPPO Reno 2 runs the ColorOS 6.1.

The Reno 2Z runs MediaTek Helio P90 SoC and the Reno 2F is powered by P70.

Internal Storage Capacity

When it comes to storage, the phone is packed with 256 GB internal storage that can be extended using microSD card 256 GB more. Reno 2F has 128 GB of internal storage which is less as compared to 256 GB internal storage available in Reno 2 and Reno2 Z. And all three of them has LPDDR 4x memory module and UFS2.1 fast storage.

OPPO Reno 2 Series Price in India

OPPO Reno 2 price in India is set at Rs 36,990 and it comes in three variants Reno 2, Reno 2F and Reno 2Z. Reno 2Z is priced at Rs 29,990 and the price of Reno 2F is expected to be Rs 19,990 and it will be coming out in November.

They are all different when it comes to the quality of the display, camera setup and processors.

The phone also has various connectivity options. It has  Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/a, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth v5.00, NFC, and USB Type-C. Reno 2 comes in Luminous Black and Ocean Blue colours and weighs 189 gms. And it has all the sensors like proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor, and accelerometer.

Reno has always been the innovative phone from OPPO and has been placed at a price range a tad bit higher for everyone’s reach. But it will be fair to say that it deserves the price range with all the features it carries.

OPPO Reno 2 has also created a hype and has caught the market’s attention since it has been launched. The pre-booking will start on September 10th and it is only after the mass uses it, we will get to know the true Reno 2. Till then, all we have to do is wait and watch to know if it was worth the wait.

At the event, Chinese smartphone maker OPPO launched the Oppo Enko Q1 noise-cancelling headsets priced at Rs 7,990.
