After years of being a PC-exclusive tactical shooter, Ready or Not has officially launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — and it didn’t arrive quietly.
Alongside the long-awaited console release on July 15, 2025, developer VOID Interactive has dropped its biggest content update yet, called the Los Sueños Stories Update. Whether you’re a veteran on PC or a first-time SWAT commander on console, this update is a total game-changer.
As someone who has followed Ready or Not since its early builds, I can tell you this is one of the most ambitious updates we’ve seen. From new missions and weapons, to a revamped difficulty system, and yes — some controversial censorship decisions — there’s a lot to unpack. So, let’s gear up and break it all down.

If you’ve been holding out for a console version, your patience has paid off. Ready or Not is now officially available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and with it comes access to the full tactical FPS experience, complete with crossplay and performance enhancements designed specifically for console gamers.
And it doesn’t stop there. To celebrate the console launch, VOID Interactive rolled out the Los Sueños Stories Update across all platforms, which includes two intense new missions and tons of gameplay refinements.
Let’s talk about those new operations, because they’re absolutely brutal — in the best way.
With these additions, Ready or Not now offers a total of 26 missions — each with multiple outcomes depending on how your squad handles the pressure. I’ve run both new missions in co-op and solo, and let me tell you: the tension is real.

One of the most exciting additions is the new difficulty preset system, which finally gives players full control over just how punishing each mission can be.
Here’s how the new presets break down:
VOID explains the update this way:
“In a general sense, the difficulty modes will modify values like reaction time, likelihood of surrender, accuracy while moving, and much more.”
Even enemy AI behavior shifts dramatically. On higher difficulties, suspects can switch firing modes, use smarter cover tactics, and even coordinate with other suspects. Meanwhile, your squadmates either support you more or give you room to lead depending on the setting. It’s not just harder — it’s smarter.
You’ve now got even more tools to breach and clear with thanks to four brand-new weapons:
Whether you’re playing a stealth-heavy rescue op or going full breach-and-bang, the loadout options are more flexible than ever. Trust me, watching your squad light up a hallway with a pepperball barrage is just as satisfying as it sounds.
Let’s talk polish. The Los Sueños Stories update isn’t just about content — it’s also packed with quality-of-life improvements and AI overhauls that refine both the solo and co-op experience.
If you’ve ever shouted at your AI teammates for being either too dumb or too robotic, you’re not alone — I’ve been there. Thankfully, VOID has revamped how both SWAT AI and suspects behave. Now, enemies react more realistically to gunfire, flee or regroup more intelligently, and even shift tactics based on difficulty.
On Standard and Hard modes, don’t be surprised if suspects suddenly switch to semi-auto fire at range, or lay traps in new locations. Meanwhile, SWAT AI behaves with more nuance — either giving you space to lead or stepping up with surgical support. It’s subtle but makes a big difference.
Also, if you’ve ever wandered around at the end of a mission hunting for “one last civilian,” you’re going to appreciate the fixes in suspect surrender behavior, hiding logic, and mission triggers. These little tweaks help restore immersion during longer operations.
Now let’s address the elephant in the room — the censorship controversy.
To secure a console release, VOID Interactive made several content changes, including reducing nudity, toning down some gore, and modifying sensitive mission visuals. For some longtime PC players, these edits sparked outrage, triggering a wave of negative Steam reviews and accusations of selling out.
VOID responded directly, explaining the need to meet console platform standards and affirming that:
“Dismemberment no longer occurs on already-deceased characters. Otherwise, the dismemberment effects, gore, and blood decaling have not been toned down.”
Still, the community remains divided. While console players gain access to a gripping and polished tactical FPS, some PC fans feel betrayed by what they view as creative compromise.
As someone who plays on both PC and console, I get it — but here’s the truth: the core gameplay remains intact, the tone is still gritty, and the missions are just as intense. If anything, this update makes Ready or Not more accessible without fundamentally softening what makes it powerful.
Let’s be real — when a beloved game changes, the internet responds fast and furiously.
Ready or Not’s recent Steam rating dropped to “Mostly Negative” due to backlash over the edits. However, its overall rating is still “Very Positive”, reflecting years of strong support and excellent core gameplay. The storm is loud, but not fatal.
That said, VOID Interactive could have handled things better. While transparency is appreciated, giving PC players the option to toggle mature content would’ve softened the blow. Hopefully, future updates revisit this flexibility.
Here’s the bottom line — if you’re playing Ready or Not for the first time on console, you’re getting an absolute powerhouse of a tactical FPS.
From intense co-op missions and deep loadout customization to smart enemy AI and endless replayability, this is one of the most satisfying SWAT-style shooters out there today. Yes, the UI can feel tiny on TV screens, and navigating the equipment wheel needs getting used to — but the core gameplay? It’s as sharp as ever.
If you’re into methodical, high-stakes tactical shooters like SWAT 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas, Ready or Not will feel like coming home… with a breaching shotgun in hand.
Despite controversy, Ready or Not is thriving. The Los Sueños Stories Update brings:
Whether you’re a console newcomer or a grizzled PC veteran, it’s time to regroup, lock in, and clear rooms like your life depends on it.
