If you’ve been tending crops, exploring dungeons, and enjoying cozy multiplayer moments in Fae Farm on Steam, I’ve got some bittersweet news. Phoenix Labs has officially announced that the game’s online co-op service will go dark on September 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. After that, you’ll still be able to play offline in single-player mode — but say goodbye to teaming up with friends through the Steam version.
The news came via an update on the game’s Steam page, stating:
“Fae Farm will be going offline September 10, 2025 at 23:59 Pacific Time. The online co-op service will no longer be available, and the game will receive no future updates. The single-player offline mode will remain playable.”
That means you’ve got less than a month to gather your friends, complete those last co-op quests, and capture those final multiplayer memories. If you’re anything like me, those moments of building your farm together and diving into magical adventures are a big part of the charm — so this is your last chance to enjoy them on Steam.
While Phoenix Labs hasn’t given a direct explanation, the writing’s been on the wall for months. Back in January 2025, the studio faced massive layoffs that affected the majority of its staff. In May, their flagship title Dauntless was taken offline completely. Since then, Fae Farm updates slowed to a halt.
There’s also the fact that Fae Farm’s multiplayer requires a Phoenix Labs account. With the studio’s official website now returning a “site not found” error — and the domain’s last archived snapshot on August 2, 2025 — it’s a safe bet those backend services are being shut down entirely.
And here’s something you might not have noticed — Fae Farm has already disappeared from the Epic Games Store. The official game site’s “Buy on Epic” link now sends you straight to a 404 error page. Reports on Reddit suggest this removal happened weeks ago, possibly tied to removing the external account login requirement, but nothing’s been confirmed.
After September 10, your farm won’t vanish, and you’ll still be able to explore Azoria in single-player mode — complete with farming, crafting, and decorating. But you won’t be able to invite friends over, join their worlds, or tackle co-op dungeons together.
If you want to keep your online memories alive, here’s what I suggest:
This is especially important because once the servers go offline, there’s no bringing multiplayer back without Phoenix Labs’ support — and with the studio now looking fully shuttered, that’s not likely to happen.
If you’re farming away on PlayStation, things are a little less urgent — for now. As of today, there’s no official announcement that the PS5 or PS4 versions will lose online functionality. The game’s PlayStation Store page still lists co-op features, and you can even download the free demo to test it out before buying.
That said, the situation is worth keeping an eye on. Considering Steam’s shutdown notice and Phoenix Labs’ internal troubles, there’s always the possibility that consoles could be next. Until we hear otherwise, PlayStation players still have access to online co-op — but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t watching for updates daily.
When Fae Farm first launched in September 2023, it quickly found a cozy corner in the farming-sim world. With its charming mix of farming, magic, and multiplayer, it earned an average Metacritic score of 75 from 47 critic reviews. Players loved the vibrant visuals and creative crafting systems.
A year later, in October 2024, the game landed on PS4 and PS5, giving console players their own magical farming getaway. The standard edition is still available for $29.99, making it one of the more affordable multiplayer sims out there — at least while multiplayer lasts.
Let’s be honest — Fae Farm’s online co-op wasn’t just a feature; it was part of its identity. The joy of inviting friends into your world, decorating together, or teaming up for dungeon runs is hard to replicate offline. For many, this change feels like losing a core part of the game’s soul.
But there’s a silver lining: the offline single-player mode remains fully intact. You can still progress your farm, discover new recipes, and explore Azoria at your own pace. And without the need to coordinate schedules with friends, maybe you’ll finally finish that elaborate greenhouse you’ve been putting off.

If you’re on Steam, here’s my personal checklist before the servers go dark:
Phoenix Labs’ silence after January’s layoffs and May’s Dauntless closure has made this outcome feel inevitable. And with the studio’s official site gone and Epic Games Store support pulled, Fae Farm’s online future is sealed — at least on Steam.
For now, console players can breathe easy, but I wouldn’t take online co-op for granted. I’ll be watching closely and will update you the moment PlayStation players receive any news.
In the meantime, whether you’re tending crops solo or planning one last multiplayer marathon, now’s the time to make every in-game day count.
